Cessna 170 Convention - Longmont 2012

Heading out to fly this morning at my home airport KLMO, I stumbled upon 10 or 12 Cessna 170's with apparently more on the way for this years type club convention. I don't fly a 170 but if anyone is coming to the area this week, shoot me a P.M. and I'll gladly meet up and grab lunch or something!

Sweet! I had no idea - cause I don't own a 170. ;-)

July 9-13:

Look for me wandering around the ramp and babbling endlessly... Please someone give me a ride - it's the only cure.

I didn't know either. Too bad I probably won't have time to come up and check out the planes. 170B's are on my list, never flown one, but hoping to real soon with a good friend as he passes through.

Tadpole, timing looks like late August after I finish upgrade training at CAE Dallas

There will be some of us out-and-about this afternoon. Safety and maintenance seminars at the south hangars 1200-1530.

Any festivities a non-170 owner could drop by by for tomorrow?

Re: Cessna 170 Convention - Longmont 2012

I'm curious as to how many 170's will show up. Seems like attendance at fly-ins (type convention or regular) is dwindling, some friends of mine go to the Luscombe fly-in at Columbia CA every year & it sounds like it has shrunk considerably in the past 10 years.

I used to belong to the C170 assoc. while I owned mine for 10 years. Got some good info from the site but the closest they ever had a get together was Durango CO. There are some beautiful 170's out there.

There are some *really* neat ones out there. Drop in if you get a chance!

I just wish the 170 could get on top of the weather on a warm day in Colorado with three adults, a dog, gas, and bags...

Re: Cessna 170 Convention - Longmont 2012

Anyone at the 170 fly in know if there will still be a lot of 170's there Saturday morning? I might fly over and check it out.

I don't know how many 170's will be left, but this Saturday is:
"July 14, Saturday, AAA of CO/Longmont Hangar Owners Pot Luck Fly In
LMO, hosted by J.D. Gleitz and Al Manley...at their hangar on the South side of the runway. Please
bring a dish, dessert, or something tasty to share. 1100-until the flying is done and the food is gone!"

There should be quite a few planes coming in, and there will be parking for them on the edge of the skydive lz. I will have the Pacer out, and my dad and I are bringing our Pietenpol project for display.
