Cessna 170 flies into Mile Hi, Vines, Cabin Creek in Idaho

For those interested, I just posted a video on YouTube. My plane is a 1951 Cessna 170A w/ 180HP engine. I flew it into Mile Hi, Vines and Cabin Creek in the Idaho Backcountry. Shot a little video and decided to post it. Enjoy!

Yep...bought a Cub...hope it's the right decision. I love my 170...I've been super impressed by how quickly it gets off the ground, the inside space, speed...all around great performer. But the Cub will allow me to go into areas that would be hazardous for a 170.

You dont think Mile high may be just a tad bit on the hazardous side? love the videos.Cant wait to see what you post after you get some shots from the cub

The first time I flew into Mile Hi, it was intimidating. Perhaps it's the reputation.

In reality, it's not too difficult...in fact, it's probably smoother than landing on the grass at KBZN. If the correct airpseed is locked-in, and target spot for touch down is nailed....you coast to the top. Little power or brakes are required.

I wouldn't recommend flying into Mile Hi (or any other mountain strip) on a windy or hot day.....then it would be very hazardous. I think Mile Hi is somewhere around 5,850' MSL.
