I was particularly interested in the C175 taildragger W&B,
I see that the empty W&B just about matches that of my own '53 180.
A while back, AOPA Pilot magazine had a feature on a C175TD with a 470.
Other than the wing slats it had, I didn't see much advantage to that plane vs a stock (light) early 180,
other than maybe being somewhat lighter.
But after seeing the W&B you posted, I'm thinking now that might not be the case.
I agree… The 175 in that article lives north of me near Eugene Oregon.. He has it under Experimental Exhibition..
After doing these two my impression of their flying quality is not great… Sure they will get off the ground and climb like homesick angels.. But, nose heavy, even with the tail weight, runs out of elevator trim since it is a trim tab system.. and the overall lightness of feel is no longer there.. The best conversion for a 175 is an 0-360 Lycoming.. IMO
