Cessna 182 Aileron for a cessna 185
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?

Hi guys,
I'm looking to replace my ailerons and I found a nice local set of serviceable 182s ailerons. I've been told the ailerons are the same except the counterweights. I've counted 5 counterweights on my 185 ailerons and on the 182s. So is it really possible to use a 182 aileron on a 185 considering you add one extra counterweight to each of the aileron?
Has anyone ever done that? Thanks for your help!

Aileron will work. I wouldn't blindly add a counter weight. Balance it per the 185 manual amount you are esure its balanced properly.

Trust me, you should be asking that question of Cessna, and backing up the answer with the drawings and specs from the respective airplanes. Aileron flutter is a HUGE deal, and believe me, you don’t want to go there.

Have you compared p/n's? If they are different, then I agree, a call to Textron (they are very responsive, btw) is in order.
