Cessna 182 cowling on a 180?

Does anybody know what the cowling differences (if any) were for the 182 wide body(1962 and later). I have gathered that pre ‘62 Cowlings will fit on a 180 fine, but can’t find anything about the wide body cowlings being retrofitted to a 180.

Specifically I’m looking at a 1963 182F cowling for a 1963 180F.

Anyone done this before and can chime in it would be much appreciated.

63 are different between 182 and 180. But, I saw a 1955 for sale( I think Barnstormers) at Tulsa a few weeks ago and I was looking at the ad and thought the cowl looked funny. The plane had a U engine and a later 182 cowl fitted somehow.

I have a copy of the 337 at installs a wide body 182(L) cowling on a 55' C-180. Both models are the same at the firewall, cowl flaps and air intake are different for this application. IMO, your application would be fairly easy. I'm considering this mod, as my cowling on my C-180H isn't in the best shape. If you're interested in a copy of the 337, PM at [email protected]
