Cessna 182 Door Question

Does anyone know if a door off a 1964 G model 182 would fit on a 1975 P model 182?

Re: Cessna 182 Door Question

The 62-63-64 looked like the P206 with the cabin plug removed. Then 182s got the long rear window. Looks like a different shaped fuselage but I do not know the answer. I had a 63 182 it Seamed ugly, heavy and slow compared to the narrow body 182. I have yet to fly the newer sleeker looking models.

Re: Cessna 182 Door Question

I'm not sure either. I know Cessna made a few changes after the widened the body in 1962. The G model does have the newer style "omni" window in the back like my P model so I'm thinking the doors/fuselage should be the same?
I've converting the P model to a jump plane, a local shop just bought a old G model jump plane that they are converting back to standard so I'm hoping I can use that door. I guess I'll take one of the doors off mine and drive it up there to compare side by side...

Re: Cessna 182 Door Question

the door will fit on the fuselage, but the 1964 model has a different latch mechanism then the 1975 model, only reason i know is because a friend of mine tried to put a 1964 door onto a 1972 model 182...yours (1964) is just like a door off a house, it latches then you lock it. the 1975 model has a wierd deal that slides into the fuselage with some grooves on it, and it locks. the doors are the same size, i dont know if your can change i guess what i would call the latch/lock mechanism. it would be easier to show in a picture, because i cant really explain it.
