Cessna 404 Gear Up Emergency (From Cabin)

This video gives a cool perspective. Great job by the pilot, and of course glad everyone was ok. Too bad the airplane got some road rash (and the owner). The noise from the props hitting the asphalt is crazy.

Knowing this was a forced gear-up, it looked like he killed the mags right as the tail touched. Props stopped before the cowlings started dragging. Pretty good save on the engines.

Re: Cessna 404 Gear Up Emergency (From Cabin)

This is why we do a gear blow down test EVERY 12 months on the Cessna twins with hydraulic gear. It's a pain in the bum but worth it to confirm it all works when you need it! Those engines will need a bulkstrip regardless. I wouldn't fly behind them again if they didn't.. I really like the GTSIO-520's but I think I'm in the minority!

Pity they doused it with foam... Nasty stuff for corrosion
