Cessna fuel cell snaps
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Replacing the fuel cell on my C-180 project.
One of the snaps will not stay engaged ...
The receptacle is enlarged / worn out.
Suggestions welcome on how to keep that bayonet snap engaged.
Thanks

I've found that a nylon tye will snug a wallowed out screw hole so maybe you could do the same with the snap or maybe a sliver of aluminum.

I have used a little butane torch to heat the tip of the snap. Squeeze it with a needle nose plier to bend it and widening it out. That's usually enough to get the little buggers to stay put. If not you can pop rivet on a doubler with the appropriate sized hole. Use one of those swivel head pop rivet guns if you go that direction

Just spread the snap a little with something and it should do the trick. Did you get a install kit with the cell? Normally the new snaps are so tight they are hard to get in.
