Cessna Lap Belts

Does anyone have a recommendation for a fixed seat belt assembly fabricator? Specifically, I need to replace the deteriorating removable lap belts for the rear jump seats in my C180.

Maybe a little late to the party, but I've overhauled lap belts before. I build skydiving harnesses for a living, so I'm pretty familiar with webbing and thread...

Re: Cessna Lap Belts

If you haven't already, check out eBay... search "aircraft seat belts".

You might find a set that matches yours.

glacier wrote:If you get them from Spruce, could you report back on quality and fit? I have the Cessna jump seats in my 180, and need to replace my rear seat belts too. Hooker has a nice quality option as well, but last time I checked (a while back now) they cost a fair amount more than the Spruce ones.
Thanks in advance.

I'm ordering them tomorrow. I will let you know my impression when they are in my possession and installed.

These are what I ordered for my 170 with FA Dodge jumpseats. They worked well.

I need to make a mental note of this. The guy that used to make belts for Bearhawks, and other experimentals, died suddenly. I've been searching for another option but haven't found a satisfactory alternative. I may have to get in touch with you 1:1.

Re: Cessna Lap Belts

What's special about the Bearhawk seatbelts? I've replaced webbing for belts in the past, but when it came time to put harnesses in my Stinson, I just bought the Wag Aero option. Not sure what my plan is for the Maule yet.

Re: Cessna Lap Belts

There is nothing special about the BH seatbelts. Just webbing of the proper length put on an inertia reel. Everyplace I checked wanted at least double what the guy that used to make them charged. I think I found a satisfactory solution though.

Re: Cessna Lap Belts

Cub Crafters sells inertial reel lap belt / shoulder harness sets.
Two different length belts, to accomodate different attach points.
$359 per side.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!

Re: Cessna Lap Belts

I purchased, received and installed the units from Spruce. They are great. Smoothly operating hardware, decent quality and no surprises.

glacier wrote:A couple follow on questions: Is the length a good fit for a reasonable range of passenger sizes? And, are your anchors/attach points as per the factory jump seats, i.e., on the floor in the middle and tabs at the base of the bulkheads on the sides? Thanks!

The anchors in the plane are stock for the factory jump seats in a 1967 H-model 180 as you describe them. The length is within an inch of the factory belts. I did once put a pretty plump person back there and the belt fit, but just barely. It was not a 1-person operation. Any bigger and it wouldn't have worked out very well. I am considering swaging up a couple of 6 inch cable segments to avoid any embarrassment with passengers in the future.

One thing to keep in mind on a certified aircraft....approval is a big deal. TSO compliance isn't something to take lightly.
