Anyone have experience with a more modern replacement for the rear Cessna vents? Preferably something of the same diameter and screw pattern as the original so it can mount to the existing can. I see some options around online but reviews are mixed and some require more extensive modifications. I'm installing new vents for the crew seats, these vents are the only thing that feels cheap/dated in the cabin so I'd like to replace them for aesthetics and function.

CParker, I replaced those old plastic vents in my 1977 C180 with Bonanza eye ball vents sourced from an aircraft recovery/salvage company 12 years ago. Not difficult, but you have to do a few modifications to make them work. If I recall, you need to engineer the outer rings from aluminum and drill holes for the screw pattern.

This one looks interesting because it almost looks like you can mount it to the front of the existing can.

I had to replace the vent tube due to tears and discovered that Cessna had 1 1/4” tube from the wing necked down to 1” tube to the vent which of course restricts the airflow. The new vents have a 1 1/2” inlet so my son 3d printed 1.25”-1.5” funnels to run 1.5” tube to the vents. He also printed the fixture to hold the vents and fit into the original brackets. It’s an improvement in every way. The airflow is outstanding! I’m an A&P and signed it off as a minor repair.

@cparker. how did you make out with the vent from Spruce? I have the same plastic ones and wan to consider newer ones as well.
