Cessna wing rebuilding
Aircraft building and project-level overhaul forum -- Kitplanes, experimental amateur-built, homebuilding, or even restoration of certified aircraft.
I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a shop, preferably in the lower mainland of BC, that is experienced in rebuilding Cessna wings?

I've enjoyed watching this guy work on his YouTube video series. He's just south of Osoyoos on the US side of the border.
http://youtu.be/eiFt8LuyIr4I'm considering having some work done myself. I have a salvage 182P that is highly modified and too nice to scrap. I've been evaluating options. Part it out, find a donor and put all the nice stuff on the donor, or repair it. I need wing work, but I also need someone with a fuselage jig to make sure the damage that is evident is truly minor and that everything is straight.

Karl Anderson (360-757-1946) has advertised his corrugated control surface skins in Trade a Plane for years, but he also rebuilds control surfaces and wings. He's located near the Skagit airport in Burlington Washington. I'd give him a call, if he can't do it he probably can refer you to someone in the NW Washington / SW BC region who can.

I just dropped a horizontal stabilizer off at Karl's on Saturday to have to reskinned. He has jigs and rebuilding Cessna wings is his specialty. He worked for Beegles for years.
I will report back with my experience once the work is complete.

I've seen some of his work, it's beautiful. He has a very nice little shop in back of his house, I believe he holds a CRS license. He even gets the work done in a timely fashion! Unfortunately that seems to be the exception not the norm in aviation circles.

I hope that he has it done in two to three weeks. I ordered a replacement stab from a reputable company and the shipping company drove a fork through the crate, so I decided just to repair my damaged unit, and Karl came highly recommended. It's very true what you say about aviation businesses and expedience in job completion. When in need of a big job, i usually plan to be out of service for a month or five.

Rick Church at Langley rebuilt a 170 wing for me. There was some discussion, but he stood by his work and made me happy. I would certainly recommend him.

Rick Church is on here? I once helped him load up a 185 he bought in Wasilla. He even came to my A&P school crash pad in Anchorage I was living in. Lol im sure that was a terrible experience. He also had a friend with a T6.
Anyways he helped me with some hard to come by parts for my old 120. [emoji3][emoji3] That seems like forever ago now.

With several wing options now posted, and if the OP doesn't mind, could those who know of fuselage jigs in NW USA or Western Canada please provide some recommendations? I'd like to get my 182P fuselage in a jig and see if it's economically repairable.

Yesterday, I picked up the stab for my 180. The work that Karl did is top notch. I would definitely recommend him to rebuild wings or other flying surfaces.

So my poor math skills say 3 weeks turnaround. Pretty damn good!
Did you feel the price was reasonable?

It was ready in less than three weeks. I picked it up in three and a day. The price was definitely reasonable. Not paying for a bunch of overhead, as his shop is a garage in his back yard. He worked for Beegles for years and is very familiar with Cessna parts. He had just finished a rebuild on a pair of 195 wings before I showed up with my stabilizer.
