I am wondering if there is a good resource online for lesson plans and syllabus templates for primary students, commercial and instrument students? Just looking for something to start with that I can then mold and modify to fit my students. Thanks,

I've used AOPA's lesson plans for primary students. They are basic and to the point. You can view them here:

One disclaimer: it appears that they have changed them a bit recently. Maybe just the format, but maybe the content too.

No disprespect here, but didnt you just ask about how or if you could cross an adiz Vfr and how to do it? As a Cfi you gotta know this. Again no disrespect but that's not a question a Cfi should be asking given your looking for lesson plans for an ifr student.

Thanks bud. Crossing an ADIZ on a DVFR flight plan is completely different then doing a "sight seeing" flight and hanging out beyond the adiz for an hour. Normally US customs would like to see a destination in your flight plan and I cannot imagine they would like you just hanging out in the ADIZ. They are very specific about contacting customs directly (in addition to filing an international flight plan. They are not the same thing) They are also very strict about crossing the ADIZ at a specific time mentioned in your flight plan. In addition, one would be crossing an ADIZ and not landing at an AOE. Do you have any experience with this? I just realized that you were the one who responded to my post before, however I just dont think you understood what I was asking. And yes, I fly in and out of the DC SFRA on a regular basis and have gone international multiple times in the 182.

I've flown through numerous ADIZ on DVFR flight plans and IFR flight plans, however, they were going specifically to a destination. Do you think the cfi practical ride tests you on spotting tuna or flying into international waters with no specific destination? Sorry for asking questions. Even CFIs are still learning...

No, I looked a while back, but wasn't able to find anything similar for instrument training. If you find it, please share as I'd be interested in it as well.

I've always used Jeppesen and modified it as needed. They're a little pricey, but very thorough. Nothing is left out. It combines ground and air work perfectly. Student knows exactly what to expect and what the tolerances are. Another good lesson plan is the practical test standards. That way when check ride time comes around they're completely familiar with the requirements.
