Chamberlain (U79) Pirep?

Thinking about flying into Chamberlain (U79) the weekend of 6/22 and 6/23. Checked shortfield.com and no recent pilot reports. Does anyone have any recent pilot reports? Also, is it worth throwing my fly rod in the back for some evening fishing? Thanks for the help

The fishing isn't notable near the field. The lakes the the west are fair (much better before the fire). Chamberlain is open, and folks have been camping. If you want to wet a line, Chamberlain makes a nice base to get in and out of the other better fishing strips (Cabin Cr, Soldier Bar) on Big Cr. Folks are nymphing pretty well there, and the whitefish have come back up.

ID fishing licenses are available at the Bob Wards in Hamilton.

New fire pits
Great place to base oneself for exploring area. I was last there 2 weeks ago
Recommended walk before taxi to park re gopher holes could swallow your nose wheel if you have one

Thanks for the info. I was planning on bringing my .220 Swift to thin the gopher population on the runway but I guess I will leave it at home and maybe fill a few holes w/ my shovel. Still planning on going this Saturday (6/22) weather permitting :D

I was there 3 days ago - it's in good shape - though I only did a low pass. I landed at cold meadows which is near by and in very good condition. Gopher holes weren't a big problem for even my tiny 600-6 wheels.
