Check your PMags

Heads-up for any of you experimental folks running PMags: a service bulletin came out recently about some units that were improperly assembled without thread lock on internal bolts holding the billet case sections together. Turns out it applied to me, as I found out on runup the other day when my right Pmag failed to make sparks on my IO375-powered Sportsman. The case had separated from the head and was dangling on the back of the accessory case with a bunch of disintegrated parts rattling around inside. I guess that’s why we do things like run ups and mag checks..

I called up the folks at Emagair after hours and despite the hassle I couldn’t have asked for better service. They have loaner units on the FedEx truck for me and were super responsive on learning that we leave Seattle for Alaska and the Arctic next week. Great company to deal with every time I’ve called.

I love my PMags and wouldn’t go back after many years of hassles with traditional Slicks. Way better starting, great performance at altitude, better fuel burn, easy to time. But it looks like there are some unlucky units out there so check your serial numbers and the bulletin on their website if you haven’t already.
