For you Facebook kinda people, Panamint Springs has a great Facebook page showing off their photography skills and that beautiful country.

Re: Chicken Strip this weekend?

Has anyone been into Chicken Strip in the last couple weeks? Just wondering how it is holding up, have to think it has been getting rained on at least a little. Thinking of heading down tomorrow if our brief window between storms holds. Thanks in advance!

Re: Chicken Strip this weekend?

I visited over Xmas weekend. Strip is in great shape. Better shape this year than I've seen in a long time. That being said, one rain storm will change all that. Metal Fire pit was stocked. Rake was avail to smooth out some of the dips. Tie downs good. Runway markings have been improved. Emergency water in the sign in can. Bring some TP as a piece offering. They Lizard Lee is appreciative of any community contributions. Have fun! There's a great breakfast spot in Lone Pine.

Re: Chicken Strip this weekend?

TP is fine, but if you really want to show Lee some love, give him cash. That might seem a little odd, but given his very limited storage and freezer space it's by far the most useful thing you can bring. Lee really goes above and beyond to keep the strip in good shape, and that's NOT because it's a priority for the Park.

The guy lives on a shoe string and without him there the strip would have been closed years ago. All summer long he repairs rain damage before it gets too big to deal with, and while the Park might find someone to replace Lee's position in the winter, finding someone to live out there all summer (without pay) is not super likely. It takes a special sort of person to do that. Let's do what we can to keep him comfortable.

Did you get a chance to make it out there this last weekend?

Hi Ben:

No, I didn't.

Weather there looked nice all day but it didn't open up at home base until early afternoon. Did some local flying instead. Will try another time in the next month or so.
