I might make the trip up Sunday......You there in an "official" capacity or with the Stearman?

I'll fly the Stearman in but we'll also have a black jet there on static - I should be in close proximity to one of them. Hope you make it, be great to meet another BCPer!

Vick,

Flew down to the Chico airshow from Redding for the day. Thought you might have the U2 on static so asked around and nobody knew a guy named Vick. Apparently missed the Stearman.

Hope you had a great day! We did!

Hi Rob, sorry to have missed you. yep we had a jet on static and the Stearman was on the other end of the ramp - I spent most of the day under a tent trying to keep somewhat cool - that was ridiculously hot for late sept! Did get to meet Flynengr.

Three BCPers in total though - not a bad turnout for a distinctly front country event!

Great to meet you today Andy! Your Stearman is a beautiful bird! I finally hooked up with my dad about an hour after we parted hanging out down by the jet car.

ReddingRob.....Was that you in the '59 182? If so I was the guy next to you with the 172 and the two kids that came over to say hi. Glad you had a great time! I went to go get my kids at Grandma's house and by the time I got back almost everyone had split.

I was in a Red / White Maule MT7-235. Flew down with my 9 year old son and we had a great time watching airplanes. Particularly enjoyed Kent Pietsch! What a fantastic pilot. Tempted to try some Hammerhead stalls and such on the way home in the Maule and thought the better of it.... :D

My standing favorite airshow routine is John Mohr in his stock Stearman but Kent Pietsch is running a close second. The high performance aerobatic routines are neat for about the first two or three buzzy cartwheels but it's inspiring to watch guys like John and Kent squeeze every drop of performance out of their machines - true artists in the practice of energy management.

After watching Kent's first act yesterday where the aileron appears to fall off in flight I asked him how he modified his aileron to make it appear like it actually falls off. Oh no he casually replies - the aileron actually does fall off and he flies the rest of the act with just the left aileron and the rudder. He claims to have the only two planes in the country that the FAA has approved to allow a major flight control come off in flight.

I saw your bird on the end of the flight line.....Sorry for confusing you with the guys next to me. They were from Redding as well.

Particularly enjoyed Kent Pietsch! What a fantastic pilot.
