My standing favorite airshow routine is John Mohr in his stock Stearman but Kent Pietsch is running a close second. The high performance aerobatic routines are neat for about the first two or three buzzy cartwheels but it's inspiring to watch guys like John and Kent squeeze every drop of performance out of their machines - true artists in the practice of energy management.
After watching Kent's first act yesterday where the aileron appears to fall off in flight I asked him how he modified his aileron to make it appear like it actually falls off. Oh no he casually replies - the aileron actually does fall off and he flies the rest of the act with just the left aileron and the rudder.

He claims to have the only two planes in the country that the FAA has approved to allow a major flight control come off in flight.
