Chinook helicopters at 32S

It takes strength and fortitude to beat the air into submission.

Chinook helicopters at 32S

3 different Chinooks at first light in Stevensville, Mt this morning. Got to work at 5 a.m. to work on the 182 backcountry buster and ended up pressure washing the car instead. They have been very actively flying them, and it's a sight to see.

There has also been a UH-1H operating as well as an AStar. Yesterday a Bell 206L4 and a Bell 407 were on the field as well. It's an all out fight as Montana is literally on fire.

A young local firefighter from Missoula was killed a few days ago on the fire lines.
It's serious business, and these men need our support and prayers.

Looks like they have a CH-46 (sea knight) in there as well.

That's terrible news about the firefighter.... I hope they get the fires under control quickly,.

Hope they get the fires under control. BC is basically on fire as well and has a lot of air power going on it. We've been fortunate in Alberta, we've been staying fairly wet, but starting to get dry now. Praying the fires are kept at bay and noone else gets hurt.

The amazing thing is the bucket the flying cargo containers (Chinooks) use can hold 2,100 gallons.

Yep, we've got one stationed here in Hood River right now. They sure do churn things up on takeoff and landing!
For as big as they are, they're actually pretty quiet though. It's pretty cool to watch. I have a great amount of respect for the guys that fly 'em! =D>
