Only speculation on my part but I would believe structure and possibly mass. They are supposed to be solid wheels, not pneumatic and I am surprised the wires aren't bonded somehow or cast into the rubber.

Here's a photo showing the voids where the wire was molded into the center section of the tire.

I've never used the Goodyear wheel and after seeing your pics I'm glad I haven't. Hope it wasn't too much of a handful when it separated. Looks good now. Rock'n roll and keep the blue side down, for then up, then down.....you understand.

Nice! I’ve always loved the idea of one of those for a fun, local bang around heli!

It's got a external load hook that holds 550 lbs, which should really make things interesting!

Very nice! I’m flying (R44) to Southern California in August. Would love to see your new ship! I usually stop at Tracy for fuel (17NM E of KLVK).

Re: Christen Eagle II

Long time since I flew a 300, empty 1150, gross 1750, good practise for the real world where you’d wait for the low fuel light to come on before tackling the heaviest sling load. If you could slingshot it, you’d fly it. No use calculating HOGE if you didn’t plan to be there.

That would be awesome! Hit me up and let's link up. I have plenty of ramp space and a nice spot for your R44 to land right next to my hangar.

Here's a buddy visiting from Half Moon Bay in his Hiller. Quite a "cross country" flight for him! LOL

Thank you!

Good looking ship and very smooth control. I like the slow motion at the end. Amazing she is a 1953!!!!
