Class 3 vs Drivers Licenses progress

Anybody know if during last election if we gained or lost chances of passing the elimination or change to getting rid of third class medical ? Where is this Bill at ? Does nobama support or deny ? Could he just do one of his "executive orders" to make it happen ?

AOPA has a weekly online report of what is happening in the GA world, with updates on their advocacy efforts. I watch it every week, it's actually pretty good! Last week they talked a bit about this - here's the link, then select the video for the Nov. 6th edition:

I edited the link to just go to the AOPA Live page, you just have to click on the November 6th edition. Sorry about that!

Also, here's another thread from the EAA forums where they've been tracking the progress of the 3rd Class / Driver's License proposal:

http://eaaforums.org/showthread.php?552 ... se-medical

There's some pretty promising info in there.

Re: Class 3 vs Drivers Licenses progress

I would not be surprised if the final ruling was something like this:

Drivers licence qualifies you for a class C up through age 65
For 65 and older you take a physical annually.

Now with so many not needing a physical you will see far less doctors wanting to deal with an extra federal bureaucracy for just a few physicals to perform. I will probably have to go to Sacramento every years. And with competition being low I will have to pay 2 to 4 hundred bucks and with travel time I will have to dedicate a full day.

Law of unintended consequences dictates that when they try to make it easier it end up being harder.

Sounds a lot like the CDL medical I just went through. My physician said piss on the new FED REGS and won't do them anymore, paid $150 for it.....and they really don't give a crap about my health, just thier paycheck.
I hope this one goes through!
