Here are a couple of photos of classic aircraft around my field. The Luscombe was my first airplane.

Yup! She is a sweetie pie! Very light on the controls, easy to fly, and nice smooth landings with those 35 ft wings. Does 100 mph on 65 hp.

My first plane was a Luscombe, such a sweetie. My (now) wife said "yes" in that plane.

This is at Johnson Cr, early June. Sadly, she's moved on to a new owner.

Power line buoy...or maybe some kids are playing kick-ball on the approach end.

Thats just to let you know that there are power lines there in case the trees don't slow you down enough for landing. 8)

Thanks, I belive it was a 1946 8A. I own a 1972 citaberia gcbc. I havent flown it in many years. A long sad story. However I am haveing it totaly rebuilt. I even bought the metal spar wings from champion, I dont know where I am going with this when done. I am a little afraid to try to get my physical. I am just getting over haveing my nose cut off and a new one rebuilt due to cancer. I may have to sell it, I am about 280 lbs and cant see selling it to add 50K to get a lesser powered plane and fly sport pilot. I have about 400 hours mostly in the 70s and 80s. Then for a lot of reasons I quit. Had the plane dismanteled in calif forever. However I went to ground school again just in case! Here is my citaberia when I had it rebuilt many years ago. My friends daughter groundlooped it right after and it put a hiatious on my flying along with divorice, remarrage etc. Now it is almost done. Part of my problem is my new wife says she wont fly. I want to get current again in the worst way! Dont know if it is in the cards though. I flew it to wisconsin and back from california back in 1977.

No problem. Have her follow you in a pick-up with camping gear, ice chests, fuel cans and a BBQ. Just make sure she leaves a few hours before you do so when you land camp is made and a cold beer is waiting.

After a year of that she'll either start flying, or leave you, and you can start looking for a altitude-friendly mate...course once you're done paying for the divorce you'll have to find a woman with her own plane, but I suppose it could be done.

bogus bill - I would encourage you to get your physical. If you pass, get some current training and enjoy life. If you can't pass, go flying with a friend who is a pilot and enjoy life. Its a win-win either way!

I will be giving the physical a shot. As I said, I had my nose completely cut off in december. I have had 3 operations and 1 left to go. I almost died as I take blood thinner and I had to go once to ER and almost blead to death. It left me very weak, that with hideing out all winter as to not scare kids! I am a lot better now, and look semi-ok. I need to build my strength back before I try.
I just dont think a underpowered plane here in the mountains of utah would be safe for my fat ass. I really dont want to fly under sport pilot rules or planes, when I have the perfect plane already to explore my area.
I do have a few good stories to tell about my misadventures from 30 years ago, but afraid it would show my stupidity and dont know if some pencil necked examiner from the FAA would hold them against me! I totaled a tri-pacer years ago etc.
I also worked at lockheed for 35 years in security and knew just about all the test pilots in those days. Guys like "fish" salmon, tony levier, gary powers, etc.
I owned a metalised tri-pacer before the citaberia, have time in luscombe, 150, americans & chetta etc.
Most of my puny 400 hours are in the citaberia and tri-pacer. And that spread over a number of starts & stops. I do have my private license but last physical and bi annual was over 10 years ago.
Hope I can get flying again.
