Re: Cloud Appreciation Society

I especially enjoy watching storm clouds full of lightning. There is nothing more satisfying then returning from a flight and putting the bird away and then within an hour or so watch all hell break loose, from the safety of the deck and with a cold brewski. Inkom got hit by a tornado some years back, and I watched the event from 1600' above from the deck of my old place, I didn't know what I was seeing at the time, and certainly saw nothing like a funnel, but I do remember some nasty cloud action that I had never seen before and wasn't surprised to hear later it was a tornado!

That was an interesting 10 minutes, thanks for sharing.

Living out on the plains of South Dakota you see some tremendous thunderstorms move through. Here is a photo I took about two weeks ago as I was leaving home to go to work. this is the back side of a squall line that stretched as far as I could see North and South. Where you can see the brighter sky on the right of the picture is the front of the line where the sky ahead was mostly clear.
