Colorado Springs airport suggestions?

Well it was bound to happen, I have to be in a buddies wedding in a couple weeks in Colorado Springs. I haven't flown down there yet and am looking for suggestions/preferences as to the airport of choice for locals.
Colorado Springs (KCOS) or maybe Meadow Lake (KFLY)? Just thought I would ask.

I'm guessing landing at one of the Military installations is frowned upon 8)

Looks like a toss up to me. Anybody have room to stuff a 180 for a couple days? [-o<

Thanks

There's always Donnetta's place, between the Springs and Meadow Lake?? If I remember right, it is 6800 MSL and around 900-1100 long, down hill into some trees. See it in the first part of this video.

KCOS will probably be more convenient, but it's not a very GA friendly airport. KFLY on the other hand is VERY GA friendly and would be my choice.

We're more GA friendly now more than ever...only thing keeping us around right now  But there's no free over night tie down or hangar.

Re: Colorado Springs airport suggestions?

Last year I ended up going through the springs on my way to Leadville. I stopped in to kfly and the people were very friendly. It's about a 20 minute drive from the airport to the town and the local enterprise Rent-A-Car was willing to pick us up. We called them once on the ground and it took them about a half hour to get to us. I would recommend calling them ahead of time that way they can have the car waiting for you. When we left we just left the car with the keys at the airport and they picked it up.

I didn't know that, great to know! Awesome! With that info I'd go to KFLY even though I work at COS, haha  Then again, I live 5min from KFLY.

Yeah thanks boys! I can find all the info I need on the interwebs, but this is what I wanted to hear. Its no big deal but I figured somebody had and opinion.
I think KFLY is a good choice. That way I can have a couple cold ones on the way to the springs before I have to get in a monkey suit and be told what to do all day by women.

Hey Ed, ya I couldn't make it. Was getting ready to start my new job and was at the point where I didn't have an extra cash laying around to go have a fun weekend after a couple months off work. I did get the Stinson moved to a hangar at Meadowlake, just down the road from the house as well as picked up some parts I needed pretty cheap. Now that I'll start getting a paycheck again, I'm hoping to buy a vert and rudder soon so I can get the tail put back together.

Wish I could've made it up there! It's been a few years since I've been to Marble!
