Comp Air Super Floats
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
Anybody on here ever use Comp Air Super Floats?? I just picked up a set off Barnstormers. They are on their way to Alaska now. A buddy picked them up for me and said they look pretty nice
I'm going to rig them on my Sportsman 2+2. They are Amphibs, but I plan to do away with that and make them Straight floats. Has anybody ever done that?? OK to answer your questions in advance, I don't think I can land on my grass strip with the itty bitty amphib tires. I have a lake right across from my house where I can dock it. So I can't see hauling around the extra #'s that I doubt I will ever use.

Good luck on the floats and the change over. After seeing the moose rack you had on your plane you might consider a turbine for power!!! Great looking hangar, something I sorely miss. I don't think I could fly my current missions if I were on amphibs, we just have a "need" for lots of stuff. You should have a great time with them. Keep us posted. Later, FF

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I have a question for all you Float guru's. My Super Floats just arrived from the Lower 48 yesterday. This morning we unloaded them. I think there is some ice in them because the guy I got them from had left the hatches open and my buddy who hauled them up here said he saw ice in there when he unbolted the rigging.
But they seem quite heavy to me. I'll have to thaw them out and pump them before I can get a good weight, but what does/should an average 2850 float weigh?? These are Carbon fiber so they are supposed to be light weight. The factory says #175 but I think that is a crock of you know what!
It taked a guys all they can muster to carry them around.

Wish I could help you but no idea. Sad if you can't trust the manufacturer. Hopefully somebody with knowledge will jump in.
