Con-Air

Hey,
I'm looking for any info on an strip that was featured in the movie Con-Air. I pretty sure it's somewhere in Utah, since the credits claim it was filmed partially in Utah. If anyone knows it's name/where it is I would greatly appreciate it. I love flying to places where movies were filmed involving defunct airports.

Teacher.... I know. I know.
Ask me...

ENV Wendover Ut.

Air Nav has all the info.

In 1942 President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the "Manhattan Engineer District" for the purpose of developing an atomic bomb. By 1944 development of the bomb was under way and the B-29 bomber was selected to deliver the weapon. General Henry "Hap" Arnold, Commander Army Air Forces, named Colonel Paul W. Tibbets, Jr. to head the select team. Only Tibbets knew the mission of the 509th Composite Group, and he chose Wendover Field, Utah, for training because of its isolation and the need for security.

I CERTIFY THAT DORA JEAN DOUGHERTY, WASP, has pursued a course of instruction in the B-29 airplane in accordance with the provisions of AAF Regulation 50-16, dated 26 October 1942, and other pertinent to fly this type airplane on all types of missions subject to the following limitations: none

Paul W. Tibbetts, Jr. Lt. Col., A. C.
24 June 1944

A government big enough to give you everything you want,is big enough to take away everything you have." - Thomas Jefferson

The last time I was in Renton, WA visiting Clayton Scott, he had a great pic of a B29, head on, hanging in his office. When you got to looking a bit closer, it had 3 engines feathered!! He said he was flying it and demonstrating it to some brass when someone asked what would happen if you had 3 out...so he feathered 3 and went to METO with the 4th engine. They were light and he said it would lose about 500' a minute at that, but was still totally controlable.. but the brass inside was kinda going nuts. He wasn't worried as they were over the lakebed and had lots of room to land... it was pretty neat to hear him tell stories about test flying that stuff.....
