Concrete WA Fly-in

The Concrete WA Fly-in will be the weekend of July 24-26 2009 this year. If you have never been, this is a neat little fly-in. The main day is on Saturday. We usually fly in on Friday afternoon and camp. This is a very relaxed laid back old fashioned fly-in. Concrete has a paved runway, but aside from that it is many acres of grass for tiedown and camping. There's usually a very good turnout on Saturday with a wide variety of aircraft that come out of woodwork to be there. There's on site food if you want it and the local highschool that is next door has a pancake breakfast. The collection of museum quality planes that are kept in Howard Hanson's hangers are worth the trip in itself. The town of Concrete is about a 15 minute walk.

The scenery surrounding Concrete is stunning. Concrete is located up in the foothills at the base of the North Cascade range right next to the Skagit river. Mt Baker and Baker lake are just to the North. The weather is almost always great that time of year. A great place and time to set up your tent and lawn chairs and watch all the unique planes come and go.

Although this airport is in the Cascades it is not very high and the runway is about 2,700 feet with not very tall trees at either end. It is suitable for any aircraft.

Sounds like it could be fun. I'll see how things come together. I may do it.

This loop is a 113 miles if you do it direct.
Start at Concrete and land Stehekin Stare, Lost River, back to Concrete.
