Cool cargo net...

It took over 10 months to get, but I finally received a cargo net for a C170B I've been working on. Although certainly a long wait, it is always worth it. Mike's stuff (Mountain Wave Aviation) is always top notch. This net divides the extended baggage from the rest of the A/C. I run both this net and a rear carry thru divider in my Skywagon. Awesome stuff. Comes with all hardware.

I know others have found other, cheaper alternatives, but Mike's stuff is for sure the bomb...

This is the net Mike made for my Wagon. Hangs on the rear carry thru...

I've made a few so far for a 172, 2 182's, and a 180. The rivnuts for the rear panel get Harken tangs screwed on, and then the net gets clipped on with biners.

Webbing is about $30-$45, depending on height (Omnivision or none).

I really like the pouches on that one. I need to add them. Great place to store the tie downs, oil, and tools. I wish I had a good place to attach a big net behind the front seats. How are you attaching the upper end behind the front seats? Sharing the seat belt points?

Here's what I did for my 170. It's a 23.5"x23.5" net from www.safarinets.com they specialize in nets for jeeps and other off road vehicles. Not bad for $55.

Was it a lot of work to get the right wing off so you could turn the plane on its side. I ques to get the perfect pic it was worth the work.

Just look at it from an apple device and it will be right side up.

Lesluther, I've had that question too. Mush had a set of those with pockets in his C-180, before he got the Supercub bug: VERY nice, very handy. I'll probably see him next week, will ask. As I recall, there are some cheesy factory anchor plates on the rear carry-through that might work Sometimes those get used for shoulder belts, but not like the robust mounts used for the Hooker and B.A.S. shoulder harness. Next time I have a Cessna headliner zipped open I'll look.

I need to talk to you about nets for Supercubs, ~23"x23". Also have an idea for a tiedowns from webbing, with grommets, using bridgespikes. Should be light and inexpensive. Know where we can borrow a straingauge in the ~750-1000 kg range to pull-test?

Thanks. cubscout

My load cells might only do 5kN I think, but we could rig up a pulley or use a couple of them to do the job. Otherwise I think I have a friend with a few that might be over 10kN. Get a hold of me and we can measure for your nets too.

Re: Cool cargo net...

Has the installation been completed on Big Renna? I'm thinking of placing an order with Mountain Wave, but am still deciding what I want. A185F with the factory middle row bench seat. I'm wondering what factory hard points are available, and what will have to be added to the airframe.

I like the photos on MVA site, and the multiple attachments, but I'm not clear on the basis of eligibility for all the fasteners.

Please share thoughts. Thanks.

Re: Cool cargo net...

Mike's stuff at Mountain Wave is top notch and he does great work. He has you pay AFTER you receive the item, however the only caveat is it can often take 6-12 months for the order to be fulfilled. Good luck-

Re: Cool cargo net...

Thanks for the reply. I'll contact him, and maybe pull some interior panels before I order to see what the anchor points look like.
