Crawford Bay Airstrip is permanently closed. I talked to the manager of Kokanee Springs Golf Course today and he confirmed the airstrip is closed and there is no intention to reopen it in the near future. It costs about $10,000/year to keep it up and there was very little use taking place. Some years ago there were a group of pilots/golfers that used it a lot and contributed to it's upkeep but they have since retired. The airstrip is now being used as a hay field and generating money.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Wow! That is a big loss. Crawford Bay Airstrip was a fun place! We need to work on keeping this airstrip open!
