CSES in Alaska

I am flying in Alaska for the summer, based out of Denali. I'd like to get do a commercial SES checkride. I've got 50 hours SES mostly in a Husky, 1300hrs total time.

Anyone have suggestions for who to go to?

If Lake Hood is an option you could check out Acme Cub. If you want to drive a bit further you could do it with Vern in Moose Pass.

As I understand it, AF&S has moved to Lake Hood and isn’t quite the same thing it used to be. Don Lee retired. They sold their Pacer fleet. His daughter took over the operation but is operating from ALH.

Anyone know more?

Re: CSES in Alaska

It’s right in their website. Yes! We are located in Anchorage on Lake Hood flying a Piper Pacer. We are also located in Vinsaw Lake in Wasilla flying Supercubs, Beaver, and Twinbee. Both places have accommodations. The accommodations in Anchorage are not far from the airport in a neighborhood in Government Hill Area. The accommodations in Wasilla are in a hangar home right on the lake. The courses are different prices depending on which one you choose.

Here's a link from the Seaplane Pilots Association. Don't know how current their information is: https://seaplanepilotsassociation.org/i ... te/alaska/

Thanks for all the info. I also need a DPE to do the flight test for CFI. Passed the oral, but the weather turned and we didn't get to fly. I have talked with a few DPE's in Alaska but don't have anything set up yet. I have until July 1 to do the flight test or I have to do the whole thing again. I am open to suggestions for that too.

FSDO should be able to provide a list of DPEs in AK.
