cub wings
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
does anyone have experience with Dakota cub ar other modifyed cub wings?
what I am doing is repairing a damaged wing and thinking about replacing bolth wings with ones from dakota cub or univair. The question is stock round tip, square tip, or sloted square tip. I havent flown the sloted ones and am skepticle of messing with a cub airfoil. Ideas?

Why don't you do a search or ask the question over on Supercub.org. There is lots of info on the subject over there.

We put new Dakota Cub wings on the Super Cub we are rebuilding. Went with stock wing shape with 50 gallon tanks.
To get the most out of the non-stock wing would require modifications to gear length, tire size, etc. That part
of the airplane was already decided on by the time we got to the wings.
Dakota Cub has been a pleasure to work with, a first class operation.

A tip for searching forums, use Google instead of the built-in search, like this:
- Code: Select all
dakota wings site:supercub.org
Here's one I found:

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
I looked at the sq2 even sat in it at Oshkosh but I dont see the practicle aplication of being able to fly around at that crazy AOA. plus this plane has to be certified.

I have flown all versions of the cub wing with exception to the Macky slatted EXP wings. My recommendation is to build an airplane for 90% of the type of flying you do. My favorite wing for all around performance, flyability, and feel is a stock round tip wing. They are simpler, lighter, and easy to get parts for when you need it the most (stuck out in the boonies trying to make a field repair) Dakota stuff is nicely built and FAR part 23 certified. Univair stuff is good too, but I don't like stamped ribs. Univair has complete N.O.S. wing assemblies for sale which is what I would buy. Last price I heard was $7K. What year cub are you working on?

Its an old one 52 I think. We already had problems with the ribs breaking under the fuel tanks. I thought the stamped ribs looked better than the originals?

Then it should have the 13 rib wings with one rib in the middle of the tank bay. It's common to see broken ribs in the take bay where they attach to the spar. If you were going to build up a replacement wing I would recommend Dakota ribs for the tank bay area, and the only place I would use a stamped rib is the but rib. That way you can put nut plates or tinerman nuts on it for the wing root fairing.
