Cuba / BCP meet n greet

Let's all meet up in Cuba next Christmas/ Kwanzaa! Is anyone doing it yet?

If you guys figure out all the logistics I'll invite Paco my personal flight translator. Otherwise we will only be able to tell them that I can play the guitar and that they need to stop molesting me over the cigars and that I don't need razors.

It would be awesome! They'd be super stoked if we could hop some rides for the locals. We might need to enlist Harrison Ford or someone important to push some backcountry paperwork thru.

Yet another good cause!

Re: Cuba / BCP meet n greet

I'm in. I have a buddy going to Havana in a couple months to look at a house, who knows, maybe he'd let some of us stay there. He flies a 182, rather than a bush plane, but he's also my biggest customer in Mexico so I forgive him. ;-)

I spent 5 years every spring working in Guantanamo Bay, with a civilian construction company. Had a good time but could never get off base. Damn it would be nice to see whats on the other side of "the fence".

lol. you guys are hilarious.

and, yes, it does have pants at the moment!

He's a cool guy. Spent his formative years flying banners at beaches with a Rotax. Probably 5,000 hours of that and 6-10 engine failures resulting in emergency landings. Now that he's a 'real' pilot it's fun to trip plan with him since we live in the mountains and often are trying to get to the beaches. You've never seen someone look for emergency landing opportunities the way this dude does. And with good reason, here's a typical flight plan: http://is.gd/1ZMitV

He's also done a kit build. If you think that's time consuming and challenging in the US, try doing it in Mexico!

Has done *tons* of hang gliding also. A great deal of it at Vergel de la Sierra, the subject of a travelogue from last fall.

Ok, y'all are in. You had me at lol.

Then with the 1600's church/tequila factory I decided I'd just sit in the backseat this trip if it's all the same to you. -As long as your plane isn't number 2 in a flight of two off of that dirt road.

As you well know, you have an open invitation to come visit and I'll show you around. :-)

You need to be instrument rated for both plane and pilot. I'd love to go to Cuba. I really want to get out fishing on the jardines de la reina. I hear the permit and bonefish there jump into your hands cause they've never seen humans.
