Day fly-in CO 2019 (CO47 Gypsum Creek Ranch) - sept 28th

Neds chili Fly In C047 September 28 2019 11:00 am

https://www.airnav.com/airport/CO47

It is inside Eagle's Class D airspace, pretty easy to get in and out, the tower can be reached from the ground. It's on the edge of the D airspace. Chili and other food provided. I've been out of town a ton this last month, but I believe this will be a good timeframe to catch the beautiful leave change in the mountains!

Some more info:

"Just fly in and if in doubt land over at Eagle airport and somebody will fly over or come over in the car and get you"

- One way in landing to the south up the hill and then departures will be the other direction towards the valley downhill

Sorry for the short notice, as mentioned I have not been home much. Please come on over if you can make it!

***Alec put together a very nice thorough writeup of strip, ranch, and procedures etc: http://flycolorado.org/index.php/airstrip-database/private-airports/gypsum-creek-ranch/

Local traffic 122.9 after talking to tower. But check the link above for all the details. Hope to see you all there again!

Looking like it could be pretty windy in the mountains tomorrow afternoon. Things can always change, but its been pretty windy for a few days so this isn't a big surprise. Just something to be aware of... generally the wind is amplified in the mountains, so watch out for turbulence and massive up/down drafts. I've been beaten so severely in the Rockies especially I sure wouldn't blame anyone who decides to avoid it, or who isn't sure what their limit is. Most around here probably know what they are getting into.... maybe it will ease up a little! We'll see how it looks in the morning...
