Daybreak Camp out: Tonight May 11th

My Dad wanted me to put this out that there will be a group of guys camping at Daybreak (WA46) tonight then going to breakfast in Woodland tomorrow morning. Anyone else is welcome to join them. There will be two Stinsons two 140s a 172 and maybe a Cub. Camp here tonight then Sandy River tomorrow with oregonmaule! Sounds like a good weekend to me, too bad I'm too far away.

I was just at Daybreak about 2 weeks ago. The farmer had just mowed it and it was sublime.

Speaking of that... is it still cool to land there? I know it's private, but I've always just heard that the farmer is cool with it as long as you're not doing touch and goes over and over. I imagine you and your dad know him.

I've landed there hundreds of times but I've never met the farmer, I'm not sure if my Dad knows him. It's just pretty well known that he doesn't mind if you land there. Just be respectful, clean up after yourselves, and if oregonmaule comes don't let him bring his gun  and you will be fine.

Don Swanson is his name. Both he & his wife & for that matter his two daughters are real nice people & have always been very hospitable-- in spite of occasional assholes doing their best to fuck things up for everyone. I saw a little bit of that once years ago (repeated fly-by's & low-level helo ops, the weekend of the old Evergreen fly-in) & was surprised that we didn't all get run off.
When I've gone down to camp, I've phoned ahead to make sure it was OK. Maybe not necesary but a little "Miss Manners" never hurts. They're probably in the phone book.

I left a message for Don a few days ago about our plans.

Hell, let's camp out at Daybreak tomorrow night too. I like it better than Sandy River. :)

Just got home from a long day of flying. I pulled the oil plug before I left the airport. Had dinner and drinks. I can't go anywhere. Hope they have fun.

Gun, what gun? Oh the dinner bell gun :D

Cheers...Rob
