Interesting to see what happens to the MT prop in a noseover. I suppose will still require an engine teardown. That looks like the least of his worries.
I have landed in deeper snow than that with my similar equipped Scout. LOoks like somethng else took place. Keep your chin up pal, Im sure you feel like dirt about now. If you were sitting your ass on a couch with a 6 pack watching football with most of the rest of the country, you wouldnt get in trouble. They make new ones every day in Rochester WI

yeah, he is local and a really good guy...did buy that one from hannah, was a nice one...! tippin over happens to the best of us sometimes....gosh, i thought those big tires i dont have were the answer to my landing woes...guess not!

Don't those 'tracks' look better/more suited to 'soft field' than for snow?
It looks like 'rolling resistance' with those/any tracks might be high....
And weight NOT insignificant.

But interesting. Very interesting...... :wink:

Edit: The 'tracks' I am referring to are the ones mounted on the Cessna replacing the wheels-not the tracks in the snow.... I wasn't trying to confuse, I knew what I was referring to.... :) #-o

I just heard from a local pilot who was aware of the incident that the snow at the site was 10" deep, and all pretty much agreed that was the primary cause.

Bush Wheels aint the answer for snow. They are a disaster waiting to happen. Put the skis on if the snow is 6"+.

I talked with someone involved with the recovery that said it was 4" deep.

Sorry to confuse the issue....... I got the IMPRESSION the person I talked too yesterday was THERE, my bad. When I asked if he (based way closer to there then me) knew of the "event" he indicated, oh yeah the snow was 10" deep there. I'll pick his brain a bit more next time I see him, he owes me for my old Airstreaks so I have a great excuse to go see him. :shock: The only reason to be picky about this of course is for further education for us all, personally I'm still of the camp that whatever the depth was, barring some other major factor,(?) it was TOO DEEP.

Around here most of the snow has melted off, again, and I am glad I left the Airstreaks on, now if the wind would drop below 30 (43 mph gust today, low to mid 30's speed for 4 days straight now, while the valley is calm 1,000 below my place is blown out). Direct cross of course also.

The snow in the pic dose not look no 10 inch deep. When people land in snow two things happen, one they relax on the yoke or stick. Two they tend to stand on the brakes. Like a soft field landing , remember to keep the yoke back till you come to a stop. The snow looks to me to about 3 to 4 inch deep. I have landed in 8 to 10 inch of snow.
