In the last 2 days, we've had a situation arise where a business, and specific person was named and defamed for some questionable business practices. One of our members is currently involved in a lawsuit against this person over an aircraft sale gone sour. The person in question has rebutted, and a whole lot of claims have been named. What is true, who knows...

While I am usually of the philosophy that transparency is the best practice, and the details of the transaction with the person under scrutiny be aired out so that others may steer clear, in this case I believe it to be in my best interest to remove the posts from public viewing. As much as I'd love to see this battle of wits play out, I think I will steer clear of this conflict.

In this day and age of shotgun litigation, media outlets (BCP in this case) are often targeted as the defendant in defamation and libel claims. I don't want, nor can I afford, to play this game, even if I am technically impartial, unbiased, and not liable. If you're in the room when someone drops a turd into the fan, you might get covered in shit, but the room definitely suffers. I hope you all can appreciate my redneck analogy.

I have quarantined the topics in question. If either of the persons involved starts a new topic regarding this, I will delete it.

As a community, we also have somewhat of an obligation to watch out for each other, so I do not want to discourage that. Please relate any negative referrals or warnings about retailers, aircraft sellers/brokers, businesses, etc via Private Message (PM) to the member who is inquiring about them. If you have a question about, or would like an opinion on an entity that you are considering doing business with, feel free to publicly inquire about them, but I ask that negative responses be made by PM.
