I spent the day on Saturday flying from Lewiston to Parma, ID. There's a house on 8 acres in Parma for sale that is right across the street from their airport, and the price just dropped to $88K. I had to go look!

The house needs some work, the shop needs a new roof, and the entire 8 acres is a swamp. It's about a 2 minute walk to their airport. Hmmm.... tempting!

The southern half of the trip was quite cloudy, with overcast skies and heavy ground fog. Very disappointing, because it's usually incredibly scenic.


It improved quite a bit by the time I headed back to Lewiston. Here's a pic just entering Hell's canyon. You can see the end of the road at the bottom of the picture.

Not to hijack your thread but wanted to say hello since I am from Pierce ID originally. It's one of those hicktown logging communites up HWY 11 from Orofino. Dean Wilson, an amazing aircraft designer who designed the Avid Flyer among several others lives in Clarkston. I learned to fly in Spokane and did all my first solo X country to Pullman and Lewiston. I'd love to find some airport property in Idaho. I just bought my first house in Kalifornia and could be living LARGE in Idaho for what I paid for it. I can retire in 9 years then I'm headed back. I just hope I can afford something by then. If you don't mind what was your duration on the trip from Parma to LWS? I'm making a trip up there this summer and will be overnighting the first night in either Homedale or Ontario and flying to Orofino the second the day.

It was exactly 2 hrs. down to Parma with minor detours around some cloudy areas, 1 hr 50 minutes on the return trip which was closer to a beeline. I usually cruise at 90 - 95 kts.

Most people can only make a pittance in Idaho, but with arguably the best fishing and hunting opportunities in the lower 48, who has time to work anyway!

However, if you're going to spend the night in a warm comfy bed on your trip up here, then you've been in Kalifornee too long. We want to hear about which dirt strip you camped at, not how many mints were on your pillow at the hotel!
