Denver CO PPL Student Begging for Backseat Time

As spring approaches here in the Rockies I wanted to reach out to beg/borrow/buy my way onboard to tag along for the ride and learning experience.

I am most interested in off-airport operations, most anything tailwheel (I have a Maule fascination at the moment I must admit), and anything that has to do with the maintenance and the real-life operations involved in owning your own aircraft.

If you have any aircraft related projects where a second set of hands would be useful (and there is the potential for me to learn something), I would be interested in helping. I have a very strong motorsports background, have rebuilt most forms of combustion engines over the years, machine my own parts on a small scale for various projects, and have a love/hate relationship with my TIG welder. In other words, I am relatively handy but have no experience wrenching on projects with wings, not just wheels.

I have approximately 70 hours entirely in C172s and sadistically enjoy bad weather although I do not request or expect to take the controls; I simply want to tag along and learn some ropes. The older/odder the aircraft OR destination, the better!

There is a local Maule guru who was gracious enough to offer to allow me to tag along when his aircraft is back in the air, but I have a flexible schedule and the more the merrier. I am most local to KBJC, but KLMO/KBDU/KFNL/KAPA are all close enough. Feel free to message me here or I will send you my email or cell. Thanks in advance.

Well you can't get the sale if you don't ask for the order they always say. Good goin' Dave. Best of luck on your quest. I'm no help right now but if you're still begging in a year I'll help you out.. :D Oh, arrange a cuppa joe first. Then people won't think you're crazy.

C'mon up to the Peoples Republic of Boulder and fly with me. If you have a maule fascination - you will want to meet some of the local players at KBDU. There are several people here that are very serious about off airport ops with some very serious aircraft. I'm not one of them - yet - but I'm workin on it.

That'd be great; let me know when you get up next! I have only been to BDU once (for an aerobatic glider ride of all things...It was awesome.)

There is a gentleman that flies a Maule out of BDU that I have chatted with a few times already. As things warm up and more people get up into the mountains I am sure I will get to chat with them more.
