Saw it from the air this morning. Haven't heard the story, but from the looks of things, I'd guess the guy landed short. Dewy is a short strip, but you've gotta make the runway, short of the runway is rocks.

I was at JC the last few days and here is the deal with the cub. I spoke with him several times...real nice guy from Ohio. He just sold his pimped out cub and bought a stock cub. He had been out flying into different strips with some friends and when he landed in DM, he said the landing was firm, but not hard. Then, like in slow motion, the gear failed. This cub didn't have cables and the the cub went to its belly. No one hurt. Those still in the air were able to land over the cub to help push it off the strip so everyone could leave. Insurance was called and plans are in the works to helicopter it out.

Ends up this cub was on floats before. He suspects that some corrosion that was missed on a prebuy is going to be found. I felt bad for the guy. He said that he didn't have it long enough to become fond of it, especially since it was "just a stock cub" that he hadn't tricked out yet. I'd still be pretty bummed, but that is because I can't afford a plane like that yet.

Anyway, there you have it.
