Different 8.50 X 6 tire profiles/shape, by brand?
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Here's one that you folks may be able to weigh in on...180 with 8.50's (McCreary AirTrac) for many years, running at 25 PSI. Brake clearance somewhat tight, but no actual interference.
Schneider skis installed recently, for the first time; they call for 35 PSI. Apparently this is just enough to cause the brake to interfere with the tire.
Also; when landing on pavement, with the gear of course cocked inward as it is in flight, the first thing that touches are the outboard wear strips, just for a moment until the weight of the airplane spreads the gear. Mr. Schneider states this is not unusual, nor harmful beyond the incremental sacrifice of the wear strip. Still doesn't seem ideal. These have single position pedestals, so there is no vertical adjustment.
So, my question is: does anyone know of an 8.50 tire with a narrower, taller profile than the McCreary AirTrac? Just a slight improvement would solve both issues.
Thanks

Yes, the Goodyear 8.50 x 6.00 tire has a slightly taller profile, and not as rounded as the McReary. Also, they'll outlast the McReary's in my experience, about two to one. Bring $$$, but they are quality tires. And, those are the only two 8.50 tires I know of.

You will also save about 6 pounds per pair when using goodyears instead of the mcgrearys. I weighed both sets of tires and tubes( new) and those were my results. Ymmv. The goodyears will far outlast the others as well.
