Dividends for Flying with Kids

Over the last month or so, Dee has sent me these while I was on the road for work. They really made my day so I thought I'd share them. They made me feel like the effort of taking the kids on flying adventures is making an impression and appreciated.

Shortly after our Eagle City trip, Adam's school teacher had them write a letter to someone in his family. This is what he wrote. The hard to read word in the middle is "bebe gunning".

They often talk about Caveman and ask when we are going back. They recently got some water colors and this is Adam's version of our plane at Caveman with the lodge on the hill and the steps going up to the lodge.

Nice grassstrippilot! It's obvious that you understand the difference between taking the kids along flying and creating an adventure that plants the seed for the future. I'm cognizant that hopping in the airplane isn't anything special for kids that are around it from very young. We have to continue making it special.

Congratulations on the connection you've made.

Cory: that's the way I started with my kids.

My 25 year old son and I still do a lot together. Fly, motorcycle ride, boat. Just got done with a 3 mile walk with my 26 year old daughter. It is great when they still want to spend time with the old man. Like you said, it makes your day.

Cheers...Rob

It'll really pay dividends when youre old and give out, and need someone to give you a place to live and to wipe the drool of your chin.
Unfortunately I don't have any kids, so I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do when the time comes. #-o

Re: Dividends for Flying with Kids

My kids have been flying and camping with us since toddlers. One time my wife got pulled up at their school and the teacher questioned her about my daughters "active imagination" and that we need to teach her about being truthful. Well, next school holidays we sent her back to school with a photo journal of her holiday flying, camping, hunting etc - nothing more was mentioned. Problem was, my kids when at junior school thought it was totally normal that Dad has a plane and that's what you do in your weekends.

That how it was with me, not talking about taking my kids flying( wife doesn't share the passion) but my dad took me on all kinds of adventures, and they will last forever with me. I love that the kids already know your tail number, your plane is a major part of the family now.
If you can get a camera for the kids to take pictures with, it will get even better
