Does a drone IACRA sign off count for a CFI??

So just signed someone off for their sUAS, logged into IACRA pulled their FTN, verified, they signed, I signed, done

Got me to thinking, when I recommend someone for a normal pt61 ride and they pass it counts on my CFI record, could be used to reup my CFI vs doing a FIRC

So does the drone sign off count?

I don't remember reading anything about passes required and would not consider this a pass. It's verifying someone says who they say they are, same as a Student Pilot lic.

As far as passes, I know 141s have a min passing of 80% 1st time checks to keep their cert. I have read the FAA is looking at seeing the same for freelance CFIs but nothing has been published or in NPRM. This could really change GA training and not in a good way. Example, say you sign off 3 students and 1 fails on first attempt, now you just lost your CFI. No way I'm jumping into this world. It'll be nothing but FRs, PCs and endorsements.

Well when I made sure they were who they said…they passed that

But yeah, I didn’t figure I’d get a freebie

What I meant about the pass rate was how you can bypass a FIRC if you have enough passes, similar to getting a gold seal

“ Present a record of training showing that during the past 24 months you have endorsed at least five students for a practical test, and at least 80 percent (four students) passed on the first attempt.”

https://www.aopa.org/training-and-safet ... newal-faqs

Gold seal is 10 applicants, 80% pass rate within 24mo plus having a ground instructor as memory serves (it’s been a while since I did that)
