Doolittle Raider & TX STOL Apr 29 KHDO

The Hondo Army Airfield is celebrating their 75th Anniversary with a Fly-In, Pancake Breakfast and Hangar Dance on April 29. The Texas STOL Roundup has been invited to put on a STOL demo. If you’d like to be a part of the demo let us know.

ALSO, the last surviving Doolittle Raider, 101 year old retired Lt. Col. Richard Cole, is scheduled to be there along with the B-25 Bomber Devil Dog. Back in 2012 I was involved in Hondo’s fly-in and was fortunate enough to meet and hear the last surviving AVG Chinese volunteer tell what they felt about the Flying Tigers. I’m sure we will get a chance to hear something from the last Doolittle Raider, you don’t want to miss that opportunity.

Just a bump to see if anyone is interested in flying in our demo at this fly-in.

Re: Doolittle Raider & TX STOL Apr 29 KHDO

We will be arriving Friday April 28 to set up the STOL field and get some practice in. Saturday, the 29th, should be a big fly-in including war birds. Sometime around mid-day we will put on both a "Traditional STOL®" and "Obstacle STOL®" demo.

You can fly down just for the day or camp on the field or get a hotel room in town (if any are still available). Should be a lot of fun. I'll be flying the 185 which I am no where near as competent in as I am in the SQ-2, but for me that's the point, get some practice in some I'm a little more ready for the Roundup in September.

Being that this is a fly-in it will not be wavered airspace so no TFRs to worry about. Let me know if you think you are coming so I can let the Air Boss know.

Thanks
