I just wet my pants! Bought a plane today....182, 180, 181, converted 182, bastard child, not sure what to call it? The seller is a first class guy, pre-buy was great! Now for the learning curve.

Yeah, saw that one come up for sale and thought "someone better jump on that"- price was right. I think you'll enjoy it a lot. I'm starting to like yellow planes more and more, never used to but I think they look classy. Enjoy!

Finished up my duel time for insurance yesterday. My agent told me I needed 5hrs duel, I told him I had 3 or 4 hours in a 180 and he says nope, you need 5hrs 182 time?
My premiums also dropped by more than $300.00 with more hull coverage??

The plane was on barnstormers, advertised as not a hangar queen, but not as bad as I suspected.
It needs some interior work, the paint job is poor quality, but not flaking or peeling. One of those that looks good from 50ft....with sun glasses on

Nothing a paint brush on the outside and duct tape on the inside won't solve! The picture looks great, though.

A 180's a great airplane even if it doesn't look perfect without sunglasses.

I'm betting they quoted coverage for a standard C182. I ran into this getting quotes for my C150/150 taildragger- "C150" is in the computer system as a nosedragger. I'm sure it's the same for a "C182".
Although I made it very clear to the agents that this was a tailwheel airplane, I got several quotes that were obviously for nosewheels. Ask your agent to verify, in writing, that the policy is for a tailwheel airplane. My policy paperwork sez C150 tailwheel on it. The insurance cost for mine went up considerably after I got it through their heads that this was a real airplane - a taildragger!
It is tempting to just go for the low quote, and not say anything, but if there's ever an incident you don't want give the underwriter any reason to deny coverage.
