Driving Sacramento to Roseburg this weekend

I am driving from the Sacramento area to Roseburg, OR this weekend to deliver my ultralight that I sold. I'm dropping it off Saturday morning and then headed back down I-5. Was thinking of spending the night somewhere around the border. Anyone have any good suggestions on a place to stay? Prefer to get out of Oregon. Last trip I spent the night in Grants Pass and I had my motorcycle stolen out of my truck. I'm just looking for a decent Motel 6 stop on I-5 someplace. If anyone needs anything moved along that route let me know. I'll be in my truck but don't' have extra time for side trips.

There is a newer Motel 8 just off the freeway in Central Point I5 exit 33. It is still in Oregon, but hey.....I live here.... :D

Shasta Valley Aviation
Montague Airport.. David and Kristine have a bunk house, you dont have to be flying, showers and all.
Quiet eve on the airport, close to good food, Thai place is GOOD in town.

Best $20 buck you can spend..... If you go please tell them Paul says HI ! For you guys flying, stop by for fuel, when you see Kristine come out to fill er up with high heels all deck out you want forget the place.

Re: Driving Sacramento to Roseburg this weekend

Here's a great driving story I'll share with you.

After the Washuagal MX (near Portland) one year, I left the track and rolled southbound on I-5 and made it to the rest area next to the Weed Airport.

I woke up the next morning and walked around my rig for my pre-trip inspection and noticed a pick up parked next to me with a couple MX bikes in the back and a couple young looking guys. They said they raced at Washougal MX and was headed for Sacramento and also said their truck was broken down. So I offered one of them (Joe) a ride to Redding (apparently one of the guys had a friend there). Joe hopped in the rig and threw an odd looking bag in the back of the sleeper with a funny look on his face which struck me in a weird way :-k .

After rolling down the highway for about 10 minutes, I asked what was in the bag. Joe's reply was, "None of your F ing Business!!!" with a pretty serious look on his face  I was thinking to myself, Shit!! This guy has drugs or some other illegal crap in the bag.

As we stop at the scale near Shasta, CA., I told him we both needed to go in for a rutine check in with the scale master to show paperwork, ID, etc. So he walks in with me and then once we got to the desk, I told the scale master that this gentleman's (Joe) truck was broken down back up the road in the Weed Rest area. Joe stayed at the scale house as I quickly took off in my rig!!

Well, it all happened so quickly and I got the hell out of there, I realized the F ing bag was still in my truck.

That's where I was thinking about. When I lucked out and someone found my dirt bike we stayed in Yreka when I went up to go and get it.

Zane..yes some meth heads had my bike. I used the power of the internet to my full advantage. I'm pretty sure that anyone who was into riding dirt bikes in Central Oregon was on the lookout for a race ready KX250.

QMDV I'm hoping to be getting close to home Sunday afternoon. My wife is not real happy I'm spending the whole weekend gone to do yet more crap with my airplanes...she should be proud of me for selling it right?

This is one of the reasons I love the Aviation community so much. Thanks for the info. I'm going to call them this morning and see if they have a place for a weary traveler on Saturday night. I have a lot of hobbies and none of them can touch the hospitality and good people you find in the flying world.
