Drones with ADSB & Future Flying out of Sight

Drones now to be equipped with ADSB. Interesting.

Here is a link to a very recent (March 14, 2017) Youtube video with highlights from the latest 2017 Aircraft Electronics Association Convention.

At 36 minutes into the video is an interview with Brad Hayden of Robotic Skies discussing ADSB implementation in drones and possible upcoming changes including likely regulatory restructuring to permit large drones to fly out sight. Orville & Wilbur may not be amused.

Incidentally, the preceding segment on this long AEA video also has a guy from Lynx ( L-3 Lynx) mentioning adding TCAS-1 capability for some of their units for < $2000.

I had a thread a few months ago asking about strategies regarding drone collisions with small GA aircraft. Maybe these new technologies will help.

January 1, 2020 is going to be an interesting day.

It’s a long video, but with all the snow here back East at the moment, some of us have had a little extra time on our hands. 8)
( Go to 36 minutes into this Video for the ADSB segment )
