E. Washington PreBuy

Any good rag and tube guys around Colton WA that could look over a plane for me? Been doing a little shopping and need a pair of eyes, AP /IA or just a good ole boy to give me an opinion, thanks

Scouter,
You might want to consider Mr. Doug Gadwa at Interstate Aviation located in nearby Pullman, Washington for a pre-buy inspection. Doug has been in business there a long time and is very familiar with general aviation airplanes. He obviously won't do it for free, but I consider Doug an honest and reputable man.

Good luck.

Willy Mutter at Lake Aero in Chelan is good. We are rebuilding a Champ together right now and he has a ton of experience in fabric.

Scouter,
What type of airplane are you looking at? I am based at Spokane Felts Field (just south of Collvile) and may know a couple different guys that could help you. You can PM me if you wish.

Re: E. Washington PreBuy

Is the plane actually in Colton? I'm not aware of an airport there, other than some various wheat farmers who have strips.

Colton is half way between Pullman and Lewiston, and as James said, Inter-state Aviation in Pullman is a great choice. Doug will probably send Tom Alexander down to look at it. It's only about 15 miles away, so you won't be paying someone to drive for hours. I had an annual done there a couple of years ago, and I think they were charging $100/hr. Here is their toll-free number: (800) 653-8420

Lewiston is just as close, and there are a number of fantastic tube and fabric guys that would probably be much cheaper. Dean Wilson (designer of various airplanes, most famous for the Avid Flyer), and Jim Otey (ex Boeing 777) are retired, but active. Check out the Curtis Pusher they just finished:

Jim Otey is on the Lewiston Airport advisory board, and is an officer of the Lewiston EAA chapter. His email is oscartango at clearwire.net, and if he doesn't inspect it himself, he will suggest someone that is appropriately qualified.

I apologize on the town, it is Colfax, not Colton,I gotta learn to read. Far east corner of the State. Lots of great info here with good leads. The plane is a 2000 Scout for sale. Thanks for everyones help.

No problems, the two towns are pretty close together. Colfax is just to the north of Pullman, Colton is just to the south.
