EAA Young Eagles Flights

I provided an EAA Young Eagle flight for six students from my aviation club at the school I teach at.

I really enjoy the Young Eagles events, this will be my 10th year. One day I flew over 80 passengers. Kids are awesome, their parents can suck, so that age requirement is perfect for my taste.

Re: EAA Young Eagles Flights

If anything is going to save general aviation, it will be things like Young Eagles (and a couple of other similar programs). This is the one big thing that we can do to give aviation a future. At the same time as making new pilots, new airport supporters, and new friends for aviation... it also does wonderful things for the kids. It shows them a better use for their time than gangs, or drugs, or the latest iPhone app.

IMHO everyone who lives and loves aviation should consider it an important obligation to participate in this type of program. If for some reason you don't like EAA, then do your own version. Offer rides to kids at the local school, church, or the kids that are hanging out on the street corner at risk for getting into dangerous behaviors. This is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do in aviation.
