Am leaving for Spanish Fark, UT this Tuesday morning about 6. Will spend night at my brothers in Provo. The reason for trip is to meet my grandson and his boy Scout Troop in Escalante, UT. They will be driving down from Mountain Green, UT. I will leave Wed in the cool of the morning and will have a little time to kill.

Would like to visit a few places along the way and was thinking of Eagle Bench. Anybody been there lately. What is condition of airport. What are the obstacles at either end.

I was at Eagle Bench/City UT in early May. It was smooth and hard packed. LOTS of rocks from 5-8" in size (and some 10"+). MTNWEST and I walked the west end and tossed about 250 rocks off (for takeoff), but many remain. More than one horizontal stab has been damaged due to how rocky it is.

With that said, it's a great airstrip. The windsocks looked to be in good condition and the west end is hard to see at pattern alt due to its size. I would expect a gusty crosswind if it's windy. Land to the west and takeoff to the east due to the slope. No significant obstacles on the east end.

Looked on UBCP site and you were on Eagle Bench. It looks as if Eagle City is a strip that is part of a dirt road 1/2 mile to north. 5" rocks do not scare me, just like a frozen cow terd. But 10" may be a bit bad for a 600x6 nose wheel and 700 mains.

My mistake. Eagle City is the south one, Eagle Benches is the north one.

My mistake Tim, I was referring to Eagle City. I do remember flying over Eagle Bench North and landing on the road might be possible. I'm not sure about obstructions and wing clearance. The roads in the area seemed to have significant washboards from what we saw.

Eagle City may be okay for your 182, most of the bigger rocks were towards the edges, just watch where you park.
