EarthX Batteries announces STC for Aviat Husky

BCP members,

We're excited to announce the FAA STC approval for installation of EarthX batteries in all Aviat Husky A-1 series aircraft.

Save 15-17 pounds instantly and increase your cranking power and longevity of your battery!

The ETX900-TSO battery at 5.4 pounds and has 390CCA cranking ability. The STC replaces the Gill RG-25, which is a 21 pound, 225CCA cranking battery, and the Concorde RG-25 22.75 battery at 375CCA!

Less weight means fuel savings, shorter take off distance, better climb rate, and more useful load.

ETX900-TSO Battery retails $699.

Installation kit and STC retails $299.

Needs to be vented? What is the suggested path of venting on the aircraft? Thank you

They have several additional STCs they've submitted for that are in a pending state with the FAA.

Just another happy customer here - Inadvertently let my EarthX go dead in my RV-7 - Very helpful customer service and immediately got me up and running - I'll definitely be ordering one for the Husky!

EarthX batteries are awesome! The firewall mount on the 180 is the perfect application for the lightweight battery.

Does the STC specify firewall mount or original mounting?

Just wanted to update - the Cessna 180 STC is available now, along with a few others. =D>

Also, for those of us with the F.Atlee Dodge Firewall Battery box - the old EXT900-TSO used to be ever so slightly to thick, it was 3.1 inches and the Atlee box is 3 inches. Well sometime in the last year or so, they reduced the thickness of the EXT900-TSO down to 3 inches, on their website it still says 3.1, but I verified with them its now 3 inches and I've seen a recent one installed into the Atlee box.

Looks like the MSRP for the EarthX is about 3 times as much as for the Odyssey SBS-J16.
Other than being lighter, is it that much better?
