Eastern Oregon Airstrip

There is a short and remote airstrip in east central Oregon that would be very convenient to my Deer and Elk hunting unit this fall. It is east of Seneca and South of Prairie City. The coordinates are: 44°12'28.70"N 118°31'13.01"W

Do any of the Oregonians out there have any information on the details or status of this? We are planning on heading out that direction on Saturday, but do not intend to land there.

Re: Eastern Oregon Airstrip

Seems like a great place to set down and clean that lead fouled plug :)
Years ago I did that on an island at/in Lake Berryessa (in a T-Crate) and the Park Rangers didn't put up much of a fight.
Let us know if you were able to clean the plug and get on your way.

That strip is short,,there used to be a mill there in the 40's to 50's hauled their logs by railroad to Seneca then Burns,,that is Summit prairie ,,there is a snow park just up the road 1/2 mile,, You can land on the county road and taxi up to it,,The sheriff Glenn Palmer said it's OK,,just don't hit anyone,,

52Romeo,

Is the Seneca strip the same way?

Scolopax,

Did you make the trip? Land? If not, let me know if you want a wing man when you do.

you can land on the Seneca strip also,,the town owns it ,, they just put restricted on it to keep the liability off them,,it's in good shape just fly over it to make sure,,and if it's in bad shape just call and they'll blade it,, the one on summit crk.prairie ,,well I've flow over it ,,but never landed,,the county road is paved and plenty wide enough ,, very little traffic ,,just deer, elk,& cows,,

It looks like it's about 900 feet long. I can't tell from the satellite image how the approach is. I am definitely comfortable with 900ft as long as there aren't 80 foot trees right at the end.

I didn't make it out yesterday. Went to change the oil and the FBO wouldn't sell me the crush gaskets that I needed to finish the job. Customer Service is not a priority for these folks.

Perhaps I'll head out one evening this week, and I would like to take you up on the wingman offer CW! Let me know what night works for you?

Check out google street views. They aren't 80 ft trees but they also aren't 5ft!
